About
I've lost friendships for almost every reason there is — to illness, to distance, to the people they married, to politics, to nothing I could ever point to. Nobody talks about this kind of grief the way they talk about a breakup or a death, so I started writing down what each one actually felt like, and what helped.
I go by Domnik Matheus here. It's a pen name — some of the people in these stories would recognize themselves otherwise, and that's not fair to them. Everything else is real.
I'm not a therapist. I'm not trained in any of this. I'm just someone who went looking for something that took this kind of loss seriously and couldn't find it, so I wrote it myself.
